Western Nigeria Football Forum honours Ogunjobi

Arrangements have been concluded by the Western Nigeria Football Forum (WNFF) to hold a symposium in honour of the late Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, former Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

According to the 1st vice-president, NFF and coordinator WNFF, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, the symposium, with the theme ‘Celebrating the life and times of Ogunjobi’, will be held today at the indoor sports hall of Lekan Salami Satdium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

He further informed that former president of the NFF, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi; the current president, Amaju Pinnick; chairman of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Gbolagade Busari; former international Segun Odegbami; former Sports Editor of Nigerian Tribune, Mr Ade Somefun, Gboyega Makind, Elder Bode Oyewole, among others will give tributes at the event expected to have the Oyo and Osun state commissioners for sports as special guests of honour.

There will be a candle light procession after the symposium.

It was also gathered that there will be novelty matches involving Friends United by Sports (FUBS), which was captained by the late Ogunjobi, All Stars Lagos, Ex Shooting Stars/Osun United on Thursday as well as lying in state at Adamasingba, while burial arrangements will be held on Friday at a private cemetery.

Akinwunmi, while expressing sadness over the death of the late Ogunjobi, said, “this.i s an avenue to honour him because he did so well for football in the South West and Nigeria as a whole.” He also enjoined all football stakeholders to turn out en mass to pay their last respect to the former chairman of the Shooting Stars Sports Club.”
