Worrying stat reveals Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the most wasteful top scorer in the Premier League

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the most wasteful top scorer in the Premier League, research has revealed.

Official Premier League statistics show the Manchester United striker has had more shots than any other player in the Premier League – by quite some way.

The Swede has had 32 attempts at goal this season. In comparison to the league’s other star strikers, Sergio Aguero has had 19, Diego Costa 18 and Alexis Sanchez 17.

Premier League team of the week: Who makes the XI?

There’s nothing wrong with having a go – but there is if they’re not going in.

Metro.co.uk calculated how many shots per goal the top scorers at all 20 Premier League clubs have needed this season and the results reveal that Ibrahimovic is the most wasteful in the Premier League.

The former Barcelona, Inter Milan and PSG hitman has taken eight shots for every time he’s hit the back of the net. That’s over two more attempts than the top scorer at any other Premier League club.

Among those who have scored four or more goals this season, Watford’s Etienne Capoue has the most impressive conversion rate, needing just seven attempts to bag his quad of goals.

Meanwhile Liverpool’s Sadio Mane has been the most clinical among the out-and-out strikers in the Premier League with three goals from 13 attempts.

I Am Zlatan? More like I Am Missing.
