A one-day golf kitty to celebrate the newly-elected Captain of Tiger Golf Club, Rev. Fr. Joachim Akee and the Lady Captain of TGC, Mrs Folashade Ajala, is scheduled to take place between September 25 and 26 at TGC, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo, Ibadan.
According to the Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Mr Muyiwa Laniyan, both Akee and Mrs Ajala would run the affairs of TGC for the next 12 months.
Laniyan, former captain of TGC stated that logistics have been put in place to make the competition which will be organised in strict compliance with NCDC rules on COVID-19 a memorable one.

“At Tiger Golf Club, we are used to pioneering so many things, this is the first time in a long time in the South West that the captain and the lady captain will be having their inaugural kitties together, this is a plus for TGC.
“As a result of the pandemic, we have scaled down the numbers of players otherwise, our initial plan is for 200 golfers, but because of the pandemic, we have scaled it down to 150 players to be made up of 110 male and 40 female players.

“I can assure you, the course is being re-designed and re-engineered, we are expanding our greens, we are doing the distance markers. Our prizes and crystals will be outstanding.
“Our major sponsor for the kitty is Engineer Dotun Sanusi of Ilaji Farm and Resort, Ibadan, and supported by eminent personalities.
“Every time we reemphasise it that golf is life, even in this current pandemic, they tell you to get vitamin D and you get it from the sun, you walk, you exercise. When you are playing golf, it is totality of your body including your mental faculty, it will build your muscle, integrity and your person and you meet up with people of impeccable integrity.
“During the pandemic, people were encouraged to go out and take sun, you play golf inside the sun and I have been to three tournaments now and we have a very good turnout.”
