2022 W-Cup qualifiers: Rohr may name Ighalo for Liberia, Cape Verde games

SUPER Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, is set to name Al-Shabab striker, Odion Ighalo, in Nigeria’s squad for next month’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde and Liberia according to soccernet.ng.

The German tactician and the president, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick have already spoken to Ighalo, although he has asked to talk to his club before taking a decision on his international return.
Should everything go according to plan, Ighalo will be in the squad for next month’s qualifiers and possibly next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The ex-Watford goal merchant retired from international duty after Nigeria’s third place finish at the 2019 AFCON where he finished as the top scorer with five goals.
Ighalo had scored 16 goals in 35 games for Nigeria before he called it quits with the threetime African champions.
However, Ighalo, is not reversing his decision to retire from international football, reports allnigeriasoccer.com.
It is correct that Pinnick had a telephone conversation with Ighalo about the player reversing his retirement decision, but the 2019 AFCON Golden Boot winner was non-committal, as his response was neither positive nor negative.
Allnigeriasoccer.com. can report with certainty that Ighalo’s decision to retire from international football still stands.
Ighalo has been in red-hot form since the season started, scoring eight goals in nine appearances in the Saudi Arabian Professional League.
