Gernot Rohr
Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr has said that the semi-final clash with Sudan at the ongoing 5th African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco remains an uphill battle.
Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles face Sudan at 8:30pm tomorrow at the Grand Stade Marrakech, in a battle for the final ticket, and Rohr says the game will bring the best out of the Salisu Yusuf-piloted side.
“It is going to be a difficult match for us because this quarter-final game was stressful. Sudan are very good and we have to consider the fact that they had more time to prepare for the semi-final but we only have a day to rest before the match.
“Any game which stretches into the extra-time is not easy. We have to give it to our players because they produced so much energy to scale through.
“I am happy that we won this game, it was well deserved, We had a penalty which the referee didn’t award to us. We worked for this result and kudos to the technical crew,” said the Franco-German trainer.
Rohr also lauded the sheer brilliance of the team’s goalkeeper and captain, Ikechukwu Ezenwa who won the Man of the Match award.
“He is a good goalkeeper and that is why he is in Team A of the Super Eagles. He is doing a fantastic job,” he said.
