Aston Villa have completed the signing of Argentina winger, Alejandro Garnacho, from Chelsea on a season-long loan, with the deal set to become permanent next summer if agreed performance-related conditions are met.
The 22-year-old will remain at Villa Park until the end of the 2026-27 season. Chelsea confirmed that Garnacho has already agreed a four-year contract with Villa, while the permanent transfer will be activated if specific criteria, including appearance-related clauses, are fulfilled.
Although neither club disclosed the financial details, reports indicate Chelsea expect the conditions to be met, allowing them to receive their original valuation of about £43 million.
Manchester United, Garnacho’s former club, are also expected to receive 10 per cent of the eventual transfer fee under the terms of his move to Chelsea last year.

Villa manager, Unai Emery, welcomed the arrival of the Argentina international, describing him as a player eager to contribute to the club’s ambitions.
“He is so talented, young and he showed us his wish to help our project. We are really happy,” Emery said.
Garnacho becomes Aston Villa’s fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Modou Keba Cisse.
His arrival comes shortly after Villa agreed the club-record sale of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea in a deal worth £117 million. Villa have also generated close to £200 million from player sales this transfer window, with Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen, Enzo Barrenechea and Lewis Dobbin all departing.
Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United in September last year in a deal worth around £40 million but struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge.
He scored one Premier League goal and registered four assists in 24 league appearances, finishing the campaign with eight goals in 43 matches across all competitions.
Chelsea’s recruitment of Rogers and Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda further reduced Garnacho’s opportunities, prompting the club to sanction his departure.
The winger had also attracted interest from Serie A side Roma before opting for Villa, where Emery was reportedly keen to add pace and directness to his attack.
The structure of the deal also reflects Villa’s cautious approach to spending as the club continues to manage Premier League and UEFA financial sustainability regulations.
If the move becomes permanent, Garnacho will hope to succeed where previous attacking loan signings such as Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott had mixed fortunes at Villa Park.
