Bamikole wins TGC Captain, Lady Captain’s Day tourney

A member of the Rosani Golf, Ekiti State, Paul Bamikole won the just-ended Tiger Golf Club Captain, Lady Captain’s Day tournament which was held at the club premises, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo Ibadan.

The tournament was organised to usher in the newly-elected Captain of the Club, Reverend Joachim Akee and the Lady Captain of TGC, Mrs Folashade Ajala.

Bankole who is playing 7 handicap scored a Gross score of 70 with 63 Net to emerge the champion of the tournament.

Former Lady Captain of the Club, Oyinlola Omajuwa won the star prize of Best Net Ladies with 78 Net ahead Mary Onyejose.

Bamikole said he’s happy for winning the tournament as his effort of coming all the way from Ekiti to Ibadan is not a waste.

“I’m so happy for winning the tournament and I believe more laurels are coming before the end of the year because I’m determined to improve on my handicap,” he said.

In his speech, Akee promised on behalf of the executive to keep the standard of the Club and improve more on the tee boxes, fairways and improve the standard of the Club.

He said he’s ready to serve saying “Our collective responsibility had greatly enhanced the speedy work done in this short period within this pandemic period.

“We had embarked on so much work on the course from the inception of this administration like construction and expansion of hole 3, 7, 9, 14 with construction of a shed along hole 4 and 5 among others.”

Also, in her address, Ajala thanked the sponsors for making the tournament a memorable one.

She said: “As part of my manifesto, I promised to construct a Lady Captain’s office for proper running of the section. The approval of a space by the Captain and the executive committee is highly appreciated.

“The project has been commissioned by the Patron, Major General Anthony Omozoje.”

Meanwhile, Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Mr Muyiwa Laniyan, thanked all the participants as he called for suggestions on ways to further improve the tournament.
