Bodija Int’l Schools win Kayode Eso tourney

Bodija International College (BIC) Ibadan on Wednesday emerged champions of the maiden edition of Kayode Eso football competition played at BIC football pitch.

BIC defeated International School Ibadan (ISI) via penalties after both sides had settled for a 3-3 draw at regulations time.

Kings International College pipped Lead City High School 4-1 in the 3rd place match to win the bronze medal.

The competition was hosted among selected private schools in Oyo State to honour the late Mr Kayode Eso for his involvement in sports during his lifetime.

Sponsor of the tournament, Mr Olumide Eso who also doubles as Director of Schools Bodija International College and proprietor of the school, in his remarks expressed joy with the outcome of the tournament.

“It has been a wonderful tournament, a great participation by all the schools which featured in the competition, it has been excellent.

“The performance has been wonderful at our maiden edition of the 9-a-side U15 tourney. The quality of soccer shown here today can’t be quantified and as a matter of fact, the final showed the quality of soccer that is prevailing in this country, especially at this U15. I want to encourage other schools to participate and join us in the grassroots programmes,” he said.

Also in his remarks, chairman of the programme, Engineer Yomi Salami, said: “I was impressed more importantly with the organisation and on the field of play. I shook hands with most of the players, they are real U15, I have no doubt about that. Every aspect of this tournament is excellent and I think they will do better next year.”
