Cavani speaks out over the Neymar saga

PSG star Edinson Cavani has spoken out about his well-publicised falling-out with team-mate Neymar ahead of the French side’s trip to Anderlecht in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Speaking to French radio station ‘SFR’, the Uruguayan gave the following response when asked for his views on how well the PSG players get on: “We don’t all need to be friends or like one big happy family. What we need to do is be professional on the pitch. In order to the so the main thing is that we respect each other and give 100% to the cause.”

Furthermore, the 30-year-old had a message for PSG boss Unai Emery, telling the Spaniard: “You have to see what is best for the team. The job of the manager is to make such decisions. For this reason we must find a solution to the problem. The manager must look for a solution. Our No 1 priority is the good of the team. If the manager makes a decision, we will respect it.”

The question that everyone was waiting for was eventually posed and Cavani’s answer may have surprised some. When quizzed over who would take set pieces in the future, Cavani replied by saying “I don’t know”, leading to yet more speculation as to whether Emery dealt with the situation adequately at the time or not.

It had been thought that Emery had told the players that they would share free kick and penalty duty, but after the Uruguay international’s latest comments, things appear to be up in the air once again.
