Commonwealth Games: Onyekwere wins gold for Nigeria in discus

Nigerian track and field athlete specialising in the discus throw, Chioma Onyekwere on Tuesday won the third gold for Nigeria at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. 

Onyekwere beat other contestants to the gold in the women’s Discus event with a throw of 61.70m which stands as a Season’s Best.

Also, Nigeria’s Obiageri Amaechi with a throw of 56.99m settled for the bronze in the event as England’s Jade Lally claimed the silver with a throw of 58.42m.
