In his remarks, General Officer Commanding, 2 Division, Major General Azinta said that Tiger Open is an annual event sponsored by the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army as her modest contribution towards the promotion of sports in general and the game of golf in particular.
He said over the years, Tiger Open has grown from its humble beginning to a renowned event in the national golf calendar and has contributed in no small way to fostering the civil-military relationship, adding that, “It is our dream that the event will grow bigger with your (golfers) constant support.”
Meanwhile, captain of TGC, Mr Muyiwa Laniyan, in his remarks lauded the 2 division Nigerian Army for the sponsorship of the annual Tiger Open, saying despite the prevailing economic situation in the country, their financial obligation towards the success of the championship was outstanding.
