Leader of the Bridge Builders, Demola Mumuney, has charged Nigerians to embrace golf, saying that it’s not a game for the elite alone.
Mumuney, former Captain of Ikoyi Club 1938 who led his team from Ikoyi Golf Club in MatchPlay against Ibadan Golf Club made the remarks, adding that it was important for every indidvidual to engage in playing golf to develop both physical and mental well-being.

He said people see golf as an elitist game, but it is not so, as anyone can play the game depending on the clubs you want to use.
“Most professional golfers today started as caddies and they have been making the country proud and that is what Bridge Builders are doing by taking the development of the game across the country and beyond.
“Bridge Builders have been around 25 years now and basically what we do is to play the game of golf. We play local and foreign, we have been to Ghana, Togo, South Africa, Cameroon, Spain, Portugal, England all because of golf promotion. We play golf to network and this is the second time of coming to Ibadan. We have been to Ogun State [Abeokuta] and other states in the South West. We go round to meet golfers and share our golfing experience. We are also involved in communities services too.

“We are calling on Nigerians embrace the game and corporate bodies to sponsor tournaments to enhance its development,” Mumuney, who is also the Managing Director of Stoirin Maritime Services Ltd said.
Also, Deputy Leader of the Group, Mr Tunde Olowude said: “Golf is a business tool for advancement, the more friends you can have, the more influence you would gain. The chairman of a corporation cannot be easily seen in his office, but while playing golf, it’s possible to see him and interact with him.
“We are bridge Builders and we will continue to expand because our focus is to bring harmony.”

Meanwhile, General Secretary of the Group, Ifeanyi Ofili, said what they are doing is part of the community service, as they also engaged in other services in donating to clubs and communities.
