De Gea can’t leave Man Utd for Real Madrid ―Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has insisted there is “no chance” of David De Gea leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid this summer.

Keylor Navas’s position at Real came under scrutiny again after the Costa Rica goalkeeper’s blunder in his side’s 2-1 Champions League semi-final first leg win over Bayern Munich in Germany on Wednesday.

Navas also committed a high-profile error in the quarter-final second leg against Juventus that threatened to prove costly before Cristiano Ronaldo’s stoppage time penalty sent the reigning European champions into the top four.

De Gea has been linked persistently with a move to Real ever since a proposed transfer to the Madrid club collapsed on transfer deadline day in 2015.

Real were given the chance to sign De Gea last summer but backed away from a deal in order to focus on their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe, only for the France striker to join Paris St-Germain instead.

De Gea is out of contract at United at the end of next season but the club have an option to extend the deal until June 2020. United hope to tie the Spaniard to a new long-term contract to replace his existing deal and Mourinho is adamant they will rebuff any approach from Real.

Asked about the prospect of De Gea leaving this summer, Mourinho told reporters on Friday: “No chance.”
