In his remarks, the District Governor 9126, Kayode Olowolagba, said he was thrilled with the outcome of the tournament, adding that the tournament would continue to grow.
Olowolagba said, “I’m highly delighted with the tournament organised in honour of DG 9126 and this is a new tournament in our district and this is an avenue for us to showcase what Rotary stand for and for us to attract new members from the golf community.
“I must commend IGC Captain, Seyi Alaba, who is also a Rotarian and who has been using his position to bring about collaboration between the Rotary Club and IGC.
While speaking, Alaba said he was motivated to organise the tournament to celebrate the outgoing DG, who had done very well in his humanitarian work.
“The aim was to foster fellowship through sports, and golf is a good platform because I see golf and Rotary as one. if you are a member of these organisations, you are more or less a global citizen, anywhere you go, everybody will identify and associate with you.
“This is a good one for us to network and to increase fellowship through the game of golf. This is the maiden edition and it’s going to be a yearly event as we want to engage other districts subsequently.
