Diego Costa must remain at Atletico

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is not expecting the club to sell Diego Costa during the January transfer window.

Costa, who is sidelined until February following foot surgery, has struggled for form this season with just four goals in 15 games in all competitions.

The Spain international has been linked with a switch to China as reports claim Tianjin Quanjian are keen, but Simeone is not expecting the striker to depart in the winter window.

“I hope, wish for and need Diego Costa in February, no doubt about it, and I believe he will be there,” the Atletico boss told reporters.

Los Colchoneros travel to Valladolid on Saturday and a win would see them move level on 31 points with Barcelona, who head to Levante on Sunday.
