To ensure that the Super Eagles exceed their previous performance at the FIFA World Cup when they feature at the Russia 2018 World Cup, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will soon meet with the leadership of the players and their coaches.
This was revealed on Thursday at the Federation’s Annual General Assembly held at the Crest Hotel, Jos, Plateau State, by the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, in his remarks at the opening of the general assembly.
According to Pinnick, the meeting is to iron out every issue that could distract the attention of the team during the next Mundial.
“We want to go to the World Cup with the right strength, with the right mental capacity,” the NFF boss declared.
He informed that the NFF Board had resolved to ensure that negotiations with the players with regards to World Cup bonuses are firmly concluded and agreement signed before the end of this year in order for the Eagles to have stable preparations and credible participation at the World Cup finals without any distractions.
He stated that the Federation would have resolved every issue relating to the Eagles’ World Cup outing in Russia six months to the biggest football event.
He stated that the NFF under his watch in the past three years had recorded many achievements, declaring that the greatest achievements was the qualification of the Eagles for the 2018 World Cup with a match to go in the African qualifying rounds.
Pinnick, however, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government through the Ministry of Sports for its support in ensuring that the Eagles picked a ticket to Russia 2018.
The NFF President informed the Assembly that the Federation got a clean bill of health by PricewaterhouseCoopers (Pwc), which audited its account.
In his remarks, the Plateau State governor, Barrister Solomon Lalong, while expressing delight that the NFF AGA was held in the state Capital, commended NFF for qualifying the Eagles for the World Cup.
Represented by the state Commissioner for Sports, Danladi Mann, Governor Lalong assured that the state government would ensure that the state-owned club, Plateau United have a remarkable outing next year when they will fly the country’s flag in the CAF Champions League.
He, however, appealed to the NFF to lift the ban placed on the Plateau United Feeder team, a request Pinnick said the Federation would look into based on its statutes.
