Edo sports commission boss urges youths to embrace eSports

The chairman of Edo State Sports Commission, Yussuf Alli has urged youths in the state to embrace eSports, stressing that eSports is a game of high intelligence, entertainment and genuine money-making ventures, capable of creating huge employment opportunities for young people.

The Edo State Sports Commission boss made the call during the inauguration ceremony of Edo State eSports association at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin on Tuesday, August 27,2024.

Inaugurating the executive of the eSports Association headed by Daro Dean Bezi as Chairman, Alli assured the new sports association in Edo state of support, adding that his board is willing to support any association and venture whose activities are meant to creat a genuine source of income and improve the lives of Edo youths.

“I think it is time for us to follow eSports and I will encourage our youths in Edo state to embrace the game. It is worth venturing into.

“I assure you of our support as long as it is something that our people will benefit from. We need something for youth engagement and we are willing to espand the scope of things that will make our youth gainfully employed and out of the street,” he emphasised.

Earlier in his address, the chairman of the newly inaugurated Edo state eSports association, Daro Dean Bezi highlighted the benefits of the egame to include money making, international exposure high intelligence quotient development and other economic and psychological gains.

He added that eSports men are smart people.

He appealed for support from the Edo state sports commission and the media to help popularise the game in Edo state as it is in Lagos and elsewhere in South and north Africa.

Against the general misconception and misperception in Nigeria that all online gaming are fraudulent practices’Yahoo’ Bezi insisted that eSports is real and genuine money spinning game that is capable of removing thousands of Edo youths from the street.

He revealed that they have already launched the eSports in twelve out of the eighteen local government areas of Edo state and will strive to cover the entire state.

He called on Edo youth to come out for membership registration so they could learn the act as the association is already on ground in the state . He added that the game is simple to understand.

The Edo eSports executive is comprises of Daro Dean Bezi as chairman; Beowaosa Build Aghosa as Vice Chairman while Bright Usiosefe Igbineweka is the Treasurer of the association.

Others include Oviasuyi Cosmos as Director of Publicity;Uwabun Ehijele Marvellous as Technical Director while Anabaraonye Víctor and Ehiguese Trust Ojeabulu are Artistic Director and Event coordinator respectively.
