Emirates, Dodgers partner to sponsor Dubai Little League

Emirates and the Los Angeles Dodgers have announced the sponsorship of the Dubai Little League Divisional Teams, which will go by the name of the Dubai Dodgers.

Emirates and the Los Angeles Dodgers will also inaugurate the Emirates Airline Dubai Little League Park which will become the home of the Dubai Little League.

The announcement was made last week at a press conference led by Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice-President Commercial Operations, Centre; Dave Roberts, LA Dodgers manager and Adrian Gonzalez, Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman. Dave Roberts was recently voted as Sporting News National League Manager of the Year and was also voted by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America as the National League Manager of the Year.

The sponsorship underscores the airline and the Los Angeles Dodger’s commitment to grass-roots development of baseball in Dubai and the UAE. Emirates and the Los Angeles Dodgers will commit to financial support, equipment, and uniforms to nurture the talent of the 500 players in different divisions at the Dubai Little League.

The support will also ensure that Emirates Airline Dubai Little League Park’s fields and facilities are kept in pristine condition. The sponsorship will give Emirates onsite brand visibility and the ability to run on-ground promotions.

The Emirates Airline Dubai Little League Park was inaugurated on December 16 with a kid’s clinic will run by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Divisional Senior Vice-President Commercial Operations, remarked on the upcoming commitment: “We see our partnership with the LA Dodgers and today’s announcement as an opportunity to connect with baseball fans in our home, the UAE.

“Through our focused collaboration with the legendary Los Angeles Dodgers team, we are now able to develop baseball at the grassroots through the Dubai Little League baseball teams. We are committed to supporting sports amongst youth in Dubai.

We hope that young players enjoy the positive experience that the sport has, including the appreciation for the values of hard work, teamwork, discipline and fair play. We also hope to capitalise on the Los Angeles Dodger’s experience in extending player mentoring through clinics and other activities.”

“The Los Angeles Dodgers are extremely proud to join our exclusive airline partner, Emirates Airline, to further the growth of baseball among the youth of Dubai,” said Michael Young, Senior Vice-President, Corporate Partnerships. “The Dodgers have always been at the forefront of pioneering the great game of baseball internationally and it’s great to do so with our partner, Emirates Airline.

Dodger Manager Dave Roberts and All-Star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez are genuinely excited to join us in dedicating the Emirates Airline Dubai Little League Park and working with these young adults to become committed players and ambassadors of baseball. We look forward to further opportunities with Emirates Airline in promoting our great game and our historic partnership with the worldwide leader in commercial aviation.”

John Fekete, President of the Dubai Little League commented: “The objective of the Dubai Little League is teach our 500 players the fundamentals of baseball and foster a team environment that gives them the opportunity practice good sportsmanship and we have no better partners than the Los Angeles Dodgers and Emirates Airline to help us achieve these goals.
