The remains of the former captain of Enyimba FC, Chinedu Udoji were laid to rest on Wednesday in his hometown Igbariam of Anambra State.
Abdul Rasak Aliu, Ugwu Uwadiagu, Christian Madu, Mfon Udoh, who is current all-time NPFL top scorer, Chima Amafor, Emmanuel Anyanwu and coach Friday Christopher were at the burial of the former Kano Pillars stalwart.
Udoji, who last played for Kano Pillars died last month in a car crash in Kano.
He was said to be on his way home from the hotel of his former team, Enyimba, which held Kano Pillars to a 1-1 draw in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match he also featured and was also given the Man of the Match award.
As part of the recognition for his diligence and dedication towards the success of Kano Pillars, the government of Kano State gave his family N3 million so cushion the burden on the family as they prepared for the burial.
El-Kanemi Warriors midfielder and the late Udoji’s best man at his wedding, Abdulrasak Aliu paid glowing tributes to the fallen soccer star.
“I and most people gathered here cried again. It was as if he only passed away today.
“Udoji cannot be replaced in my heart as I still have his contact on my phone as if we are still talking. I miss him.” Aliu, a former Enyimba player himself told www.scorenigeria.com.ng at the burial, which was graced by a number of NPFL stars.
