FCT-FA mourns demise of FIFA-badge referee, Bose Momoh

The FCT Football Association (FCT FA) has mourned the death of Mrs Bosede Momoh, a retired FIFA Referee who passed away on Easter Monday at the National Hospital, Abuja after a period of illness.

In a message he personally signed and made available to Sporting Tribune on Tuesday in Abuja, the chairman, Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed, said the FA is saddened to hear about Momoh’s passing who he described as a trailblazer in the world of refereeing.

“The FCT Football Association (FCT FA) is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of Nigeria’s pioneering women in football officiating, Madam Bosede Momoh, a respected and retired FIFA referee.

“Madam Bosede Momoh was not only a trailblazer in the world of refereeing but also a passionate advocate for fair play, discipline and the development of young referees, particularly women.

“Her distinguished service to the game both within Nigeria and internationally earned her admiration, respect and love across the football community.

“On behalf of the chairman, board members, management and entire football family in the Federal Capital Territory, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Referee Council, her colleagues, friends and most especially her family.

“Her legacy will continue to inspire generations of referees to come. We pray that the Almighty grants her eternal rest and gives her loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement read.

Momoh, who earned her FIFA badge in the 2009, served with distinction at both national and international levels, including officiating at the Africa Women’s Championship.
