FIFA has appointed Slovenian referee, Slavko Vinčić, to officiate the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
The world football governing body announced the appointment of the World Cup final officials on its official X account on Friday ahead of Sunday’s final at the New York New Jersey Stadium in the United States.
Vinčić will be assisted by fellow Slovenians Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič as first and second assistant referees, respectively.

Jordan’s Adham Makhadmeh has been named fourth official, while Mohammad Alkalaf will serve as reserve assistant referee.
Final set for New Jersey
The final will be played at the 80,663-capacity New York New Jersey Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m. local time (EDT).
The match will be the 104th and final fixture of the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup, which has been jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Spain, Argentina chase glory
Spain secured their place in the final after defeating France in the semi-finals.
Defending champions Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, advanced to the title decider after overcoming Egypt, Switzerland and England in the knockout stages.
Argentina are aiming to successfully defend the title they won in Qatar in 2022, while Spain are seeking a second FIFA World Cup crown after their maiden triumph in South Africa in 2010.

The 46-year-old Vinčić is one of Europe’s most experienced referees and has officiated at major UEFA and FIFA competitions.
He has handled several high-profile international and club matches, including the 2024 UEFA Champions League final, and is regarded as one of the leading referees on the FIFA international list.
