The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been ranked the third best national team in Africa and moved to the 26th position in the world, according to the latest FIFA men’s rankings released on Monday.
Following the incredible performance at the just concluded African Cup of Nations(AFCON) in Morocco, the Super Eagles moved up 2 places in Africa and 12 places from their previous rank of 38th position in the world, respectively.

Nigeria, now trails Morocco and Senegal (8th and 12th in global standings), sits among national teams like Algeria, Egypt, DR Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, South Africa, Mali and Tunisia in the continent’s top 10.
Recall that the Super Eagles did not lose a match in regular time in the AFCON, scored impressive goals and won the bronze medal against Egypt on Saturday.
Morocco remains the highest-ranked nation in Africa despite losing the AFCON title to Senegal on Sunday.
Also, Spain leads the pack globally, followed closely by Argentina, France, England and Brazil in the top 5.
