Game-on-Afrika tournament for under-19 set to kick-off in Nigeria, Ghana

The maiden edition of Game-On-Afrika Tournament for under-19 is set to kick off in both Nigeria and Ghana to discover and expose hidden talents that will represent the countries in the International championship.

Briefing the Imo State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Owerri, the Chief Executive Officer of Game- On Afrika, Prince Nnaemeka Nwankwo said that the tournament which have been scheduled to begin in the 4 zones in the country will kick-off on October 4th this year while the tournament which will kick-off in Ghana on 7th October 2025 will be played in the 4 regions of Ghana.

He enumerated the 4 zones in Nigeria that would feature in the competition to include Abuja, Lagos, Imo and Enugu and another 4 regions in Ghana as the case may be.

Nwankwo stated that the essence of the tournament is to give great youths the opportunity for empowerment, adding that the winner of the tournament from Nigeria or Ghana will travel to Ghana or Nigeria to play with the winner in that country.

The CEO said that at the end of the tournament, the winner in Nigeria and their counterpart in Ghana will play the finals, and the winning team will have the opportunity to travel to the United Kingdom and other foreign countries to play with international teams.

In her speech during the briefing, the Project Manager of Game-On-Afrika, Jenifer Anusiem, explained that a template for registration has already been prepared for interested teams that want to participate in the tournament.

She said that each team in Nigeria will register with N50,000, while each team in Ghana will register with 100 cedis.

According to her, the winner of the under-19 tournament will receive a sum of N1m under-19 tournament, adding that the registration of teams in Nigeria, which is ongoing, will end on 30th September 2025, while that of Ghana will end on 2nd October 2025.

She said the kick-off of the tournament in the two countries will hold immediately after the registration.
