Ryan Giggs has admitted he came close to replacing Francesco Guidolin as Swansea manager and has explained why he opted not to take charge at the Liberty Stadium.
Guidolin was dismissed after a poor start to the season with Giggs heavily linked to take over, before Bob Bradley was appointed manager of the Welsh side.
Giggs said he met with the club to talk about becoming manager and explained why he felt he was not the right man for the job.
“I was enjoying my year out, which was a bit of travelling and broadcasting, and I then got the call off Swansea,” he told ITV Sport. “I met with them a few times. But in the end there was just mixed messages from the football side and the ownership side of the club and I just felt that their ambitions didn’t really match mine so it didn’t work out.”
