Kane is paid £60,000-a-week, £35,000 less than Moussa Sissoko
HARRY KANE and Spurs have agreed to put all talks over a new contract on hold.
The England striker’s future is increasingly uncertain as the two parties are at loggerheads.
Tottenham are refusing to offer a deal in line with Kane’s England strike partners or even make him one of the highest earners at White Hart Lane.
No date has been set for the talks to resume with chairman Daniel Levy but it will be another massive worry for Spurs supporters following Hugo Lloris’ failure to agree fresh terms.
Kane, 23, is one of the hottest properties in European football and on the wish-list of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City.
He is contracted until 2020 and currently earns £60,000 per week.
There is a feeling at White Hart Lane that Kane’s loyalty is being tested, especially with the club offering Moussa Sissoko £95,000 a week to sign from Newcastle in the summer.
Last season’s Premier League Golden Boot winner has repeatedly stressed his commitment to Tottenham but the situation is likely to alert a string of clubs at home and abroad.
The player has not been directly involved in the talks as he has remained focused on gaining full fitness after a two-month lay-off with an ankle problem.
Kane, an unused sub in England’s 3-0 win over Scotland on Friday, will not face Spain in tomorrow’s friendly as he has been sent back to Spurs to focus on his fitness.
England interim coach Gareth Southgate explained: “I’m really grateful to Tottenham for letting us have him for the qualifier.
“I think it’s important he gets a different training programme to what we’re going to follow over the next couple of days.”
