All is set for Thursday’s Senior Citizens’ golf kitty scheduled for Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), Onireke, Ibadan.
The tournament is aimed to celebrate the elderly ones between from 70 and above.
The Captain of the club, Mr Seyi Alaba, said this is first of its kind in the golfing community and they are so delighted to celebrate their loved ones while alive.
Alaba said the tournament will go a long way to appreciate the elders’ individual inputs and collective contributions to the development of IGC and to the game of golf at large.
He said “If they don’t set the pace for we the younger ones, we may not have a good Club today. That is why we don’t have to wait till when they pass before we celebrate them.
“We have created two categories for them; the first category will be nine holes, while the second category will be just six holes because of their strength.
“We also have some of them who can still play 18 holes very well. Some of the participants will include the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the club and a former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Colonel Anifowoshe retd, Prince Yemi Oyediran, Chief Akin Oke, Mr. Jimmy Ajijola, Mr. S. A Lawani, Dr. Olumuyiwa Olusanya, Mr. Tunde Sowonola, Otunba Olugbenga Runsewe, Mr. Biyi Adesanya, Mr. Banwo Smith, Mrs. Omotolani Akinkoye, Mr. Fola Adebusuyi (world Pro), Mr. Williams Egba, Mrs. Beatrice Adetunji, Dr. Charles Brimmo, Prince Yemi Adeyemo, HRH Doyin Adelekun, Prof. Abayomi Oloruntoba, Mr. Gabriel Eneware, Mr. Yemi o. “After the golf kitty, the senior citizens will be hosted at the Club pavilion to an old school night to celebrate them further old school vibes,” Alaba said.
