Ibenegbu wants to stay at Enyimba

Attacking midfielder Ikechukwu Ibenegbu has expressed a strong desire to remain with Enyimba in the upcoming 2017/18 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

The former Heartland star was pivotal to the side’s impressive performance in the immediate past top-flight that earned the former Nigerian champions a Caf Confederation Cup ticket.

The former Warri Wolves goal poacher ran out of contract with the Aba-based side at the end of the season.

Ibenegbu said he is hopeful to secure an enhanced contract renewal that will keep him at the two-time African champions.

“I do not have a contract with Enyimba at the moment; my contract elapsed at the end of the season.

“Yes, there is a contract negotiation going on at the moment between my manager and the club management.

“Nothing has been agreed yet but I’m positive that I will land a new contract at the end of the day.

“Enyimba is like a family to me and I will be ready to always give the side my very best,” said Ibenegbu to supersport.com.

The People’s Elephant finished the top-flight season strongly in third position on the league log behind champions Plateau United and runners-up Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC and earne representation at Africa’s second tier club competition, the Caf Confederation Cup.
