The Akwa Ibom State-owned Airline, Ibom Air, says it is set to partner Captain’s Day Inaugural Golf Tournament, as the title sponsor and official airline for the tournament.
This partnership, according to a release by the Airline, aligns with one of Ibom Air’s strategic thrusts to promote tourism in the state by providing capacity for delegates and visitors to attend Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE).

Scheduled for March 29, 2025, at the Ibom Golf and Country Club, Uyo, the tournament set on one of West Africa’s most renowned and challenging 18-hole golf courses, promises to be a landmark sporting event.

Ibom Air and made available to journalists in Uyo, stated that the amateur tournament will bring together golfers with handicaps ranging from 0 to 36, attracting participants from across Nigeria and Africa.
As part of the experience, the release disclosed that activities will commence with an Ibibio-themed cocktail reception on March 28 at 7 PM, providing players, business leaders, and guests a platform to network before the main tournament.
Speaking on the partnership, Mr. George Uriesi, Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer of Ibom Air, and an avid golfer, stated: “At Ibom Air, we support initiatives that foster tourism, economic growth, and regional connectivity.

The Club Captain of the tournament, High Chief Isuamfon Archibong emphasized the broader impact of the tournament, saying that the Captain’s Day Golf Tournament is more than just a sporting event but a platform for business networking, tourism promotion, and cultural exchange.
