Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) is set to host the Tiger Golf Club in a friendly interclub Matchplay scheduled for this weekend, January 9-11, at the IGC course, Onireke GRA, Ibadan.
The three-day event will see golfers competing in different categories.
Friday is a welcome cocktail, while the tournament tee off with Doubles Matchplay on Saturday, Singles Matchplay will hold on Sunday, with a closing ceremony scheduled for the evening at the club premises.
The encounter promises to be an exciting contest aimed at promoting the game of golf, strengthening ties between the two clubs, and fostering unity and sportsmanship among golfers.
Speaking ahead of the competition, IGC Captain Mr Seyi Alaba said the friendly Matchplay is a continuation of the growing relationship between the two clubs, having played the first leg at Tiger Golf Club late last year.
According to him, the return leg in Ibadan will further deepen camaraderie and provide players with the opportunity to compete in a relaxed but competitive atmosphere.
He also assured that IGC is fully prepared to host the visiting team and expressed optimism that the match would be memorable both on and off the course.
Alaba stated, “ This friendly Matchplay is part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the bond between Ibadan Golf Club and Tiger Golf Club. Having played the first leg at Tiger Golf Club late last year, we are delighted to host the return leg in Ibadan. Beyond competition, the match is about unity, sportsmanship, and the promotion of golf.”
