Blessing Emmanuel put the Flamingos ahead in the fourth minute and the Chileans were able to hold the Africans in the remaining part of the first half.
Opeyem Ajakaye lost a chance to increase the tally in the early part of the second half, but her shot only managed to clip the bar.
The Chileans two minutes into the second half in their bid to secure a leveller failed as Paloma Bustamante’s shot missed the target.

Bisola Mosaku eventually doubled the lead in the 82nd minute for Bankole Olowooke’s side as the Chileans fought spiritedly to come back into the game.
The South Americans were able to reduce the deficit four minutes later following Onamuzo Edafe’s handball scene in the box, while the resultant spot kick was converted by Tali Rovner.
The handball contact was ascertained by referee Myriam Marcotte via the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) while Edafe was also booked before the spot kick was taken.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will face USA in the quarter-final on Friday at noon.
