Inter Milan have dismissed suggestions they are lining up a late swoop on Real Madrid, with Luka Modric the target.
Modric has been heavily linked with a switch to the San Siro since he returned from the World Cup with Croatia, but a move before the deadline looks unlikely.
The 32-year-old may still be Inter’s top transfer target but San Siro director Piero Ausilio has dismissed the speculation ahead of Friday’s deadline.

Speaking after Inter’s 2-2 draw with Torino on Sunday, Ausilio told reporters: ‘Who? Let’s talk about the game. We’re happy with the team we put together, as we tried to improve it and bring in elements we were missing, particularly in terms of experience and alternatives in attack to make us more unpredictable.
“I think the Inter squad is now complete.”
It now remains to be seen if Inter will stay true to their word, or whether a late bid will still go in for the Real playmaker.
