Inter ultras leave banner outside Icardi’s house

The striker has angered the Italian club’s hardcore supporters by suggesting he would call on Argentine criminals to defend himself from hooligans

Inter ultras have hung a banner near Mauro Icardi’s house as they continue to express their unhappiness with comments the striker made in his autobiography.

In the book, Icardi claimed that he would call criminals from Argentina to defend him from hooligans after a confrontation with supporters following a 3-1 defeat to Sassuolo in 2015.

Icardi later offered an explanation for his words in an Instagram post but was greeted by a banner calling for him to be stripped of the captaincy and labelling him a “piece of s***” at San Siro on Sunday.

Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti confirmed the club would speak to Icardi regarding his possession of the armband and admitted they “couldn’t accept” his behaviour.

And now photos have emerged of a new banner, apparently placed near Icardi’s home, that reads: “We’re here. When your Argentine friends arrive, will you warn us or do it like a coward?”

Reports in Italy have claimed angry fans also attempted to attack Icardi’s car as he returned home after the match but Wanda Nara, his wife and agent, denied those assertions.

“Nothing happened when we got home,” Nara told FCInter1908.it. “We got back into the house without any problems.”
