Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has explained, in his own brutal fashion, why Bastian Schweinsteiger is not in the running to face Swansea on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils head to the Liberty Stadium in desperate need of three points, off the back of a dismal defeat to Fenerbahce on Thursday, and there was speculation Schweinsteiger could be among Mourinho’s travelling party.
Schweinsteiger returned to first-team training in midweek but the Portuguese manager ruled out the chance of the midfielder being named in his squad to face Bob Bradley’s side.
On whether Schweinsteiger will feature against the Swans, Mourinho bluntly responded: ‘No…no.
Mourinho was then asked to explain why Schweinsteiger is not in contention, to which he replied: ‘Because I decide and I decide no.
‘It’s too early for him, he’s training with the team for three or four days.
‘He’s ready to play at that level.’
