JOSE MOURINHO has delivered his thoughts about his much-changed defensive unit today.
The Manchester United boss was forced into swapping two of his back four through injury.
Antonio Valencia and Chris Smalling were both all sidelined for the visit of Burnley to Old Trafford today.
Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian came in and while they haven’t seen much action under Mourinho, the Portuguese backed them to perform prior to kick off.
Mourinho said: “You could say [they are] good changes to the team.
“Antonio Valencia is having surgery today, he has a fracture in his arm.
“Michael Carrick a decision [made] also thinking about the match against Fenerbahce.
“The problem for us is that we are having injuries all in the same area. Daley Blind, Chris Smalling and Valencia.
“They were the three that start every match in Premier League. Now all three are out around the same period.
“But that’s football and it’s an opportunity for others to play.
“We trust Matteo Darmian and we trust Marcos Rojo to have a positive influence.”
