Could there be trouble ahead for Tottenham in their attempts to hold on to one of their most improved players?
The Mirror suspects there could be, reporting that Erik Lamela “wants a huge new deal worth £120,000 a week” if he is to prolong his stay in North London.
Although Tottenham hope Lamela will follow in the footsteps of star names like Christian Eriksen in putting pen to paper on a new deal, the Mirror says he wants “a three-year extension on top of the three years he has left to run on his current deal” and “also wants to double the £60,000-a-week salary he is on.”
Lamela, who initially had a tough time after becoming the club’s record signing when he joined from Roma for £30 million in 2014, has turned his Spurs career around under Mauricio Pochettino.
Meanwhile, the London Evening Standard reports that full-back Kyle Walker is on the verge of signing a new deal. The England international is thought likely to commit his future to Tottenham until 2021.
