Paris Saint-Germain prepared for their crucial Champions League last 16 second-leg clash against Bayern Munich with a hard-fought 4-2 win against Nantes on Saturday evening.
The victory saw Christophe Galtier’s team extend their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table by 11 points. This is quite an impressive margin, considering the team was in danger of being dragged into a title race a few weeks ago.
PSG took the lead in the 12th minute when Lionel Messi scored after a brilliant team move involving Sergio Ramos and Fabian Ruiz. Nuno Mendes’ deflected cross was toe-poked in by Messi after he made his way past defender Nicolas Pallois.

Minutes later, PSG doubled their lead after Jaouen Hadjam deflected the ball into his own net. However, Nantes managed to pull one back against the run of play after 30 minutes when Ludovic Blas scored a stunning goal.
PSG almost re-established their two-goal advantage when Messi came close to scoring, but his shot sailed just over the crossbar. Gianluigi Donnarumma then made a costly error, but Marquinhos managed to clear the ball just in time. From the resulting corner, Nantes equalized when Ignatius Ganago scored.
In the second half, Danilo Pereira scored for PSG to take them back into the lead. Despite a few more chances for both teams, the game ended with substitute Timothee Pembele assisting Kylian Mbappe to score and become PSG’s all-time scorer.
