JURGEN KLOPP has backed Daniel Sturridge to fire himself out of his scoring slump.
The Liverpool manager admits his star striker is struggling.
Sturridge has not scored a Premier League goal since April against Newcastle and has managed just 13 in 30 games under Klopp.
But the Reds boss expects Sturridge to rediscover his goalscoring touch soon.
Klopp said: “Look Daniel is hard working, he is fit. He is doing what all players have to do in the moments like this when it doesn’t quite go for you and that is keeping working.
“A big name… Lewandowski. There were times when he didn’t score.
“Gerd Muller, there were games he didn’t score. You look back on his career and he scored 600 times but there were moments when he didn’t score.
“If you are a striker, there will be good moments and then hard working moments. It is not easy. Most of his time in his life, football has been so easy because he is so skilled.
“It’s normal. I cannot work only with players who are 100 per cent confident, in the best shape and 100 per cent fit.
“If I could only work with them, I would be standing here alone. Every player struggles with this little problem here, this little problem there.
“Daniel Sturridge is an outstanding player. There is no doubt about this.
“There are no easy one, two, three situations where he could have scored. And you think “uh-oh, he should have scored”
Klopp hasn’t felt the need to speak to Sturridge about his goal drought though ahead of the today’s visit from West Brom.
He added: “It’s like when you have a problem, you don’t want someone coming up to you all the time, tapping your shoulder, and saying ‘hey, it’s all right, you can do it.’.
