Liverpool to escape Van Dijk punishment

Liverpool look set to avoid being punished over accusations they tapped up Southampton defender Virgil Vani Dijk.

An investigation into the allegations found that there was insufficient evidence to charge the club with any wrongdoing.

Southampton reported ‘The Reds’ to the Premier League after it became clear in the press that Van Dijk favoured a move to Anfield this summer, however, with no bid having been made for the Dutchman Southampton complained.

Liverpool immediately apologised and promised to not pursue the signing of the 25-year-old this summer. Though it looks like the club will escape further punishment.
