LLTC set to organise Oba Elegushi memorial U-18 international tennis tournament

The Lagos Lawn Tennis Club (LLTC), in collaboration with the Elegushi royal family, is planning to organise the maiden edition of the late Oba Yekini Elegushi Memorial U-18 International Tennis Tournament later this year.

President of LLTC, Prince Seyi Lufadeju disclosed this while speaking during his club’s visit to Oba Saheed Elegushi, Kusenla 111 in his palace.

He thanked the monarch for the donation of Oba Yekini Elegushi Pavilion facilities to the club.

Lufadeju seeks the collaboration of the royal family to organise the Oba Yekini Elegushi U-18 Tennis international tournament this year.

He added that the tournament is aimed at nurturing and discovering young talents for the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF).

Lufadeju also noted that the tournament will be open to all tennis players below the age of 18 from any part of the world.

He said efforts would be made for the tournament to attract corporate sponsors that would make it a world-class event, as handsome prizes will be up for grabs.

Lufadeju stated that the Oba Elegushi Memorial U-18 tournament will be held annually or biennially.

In his remarks, Oba Saheed Elegushi noted that the tournament was long overdue adding that the tournament must hold this year.

He charged LLTC to go ahead with preparation for the tournament saying that the tournament has already received the blessings of the royal family of Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom.
