Modric to miss Super Cup final

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is certain to miss Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup final clash against Atletico Madrid in Estonia.

Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui, according to Marca, will leave the Croatian at home given the 32-year-old has featured for just 15 minutes in pre-season so far.

That run-out came from the bench in the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy match with AC Milan last Saturday and Modric will be allowed more time to reach his top fitness level having returned late to training after his World Cup exertions.

Aside from that, Lopetegui will have a full Los Blancos squad to choose from.

Modric could though feature in the club’s La Liga opener against Getafe this coming weekend.
