Monday Stephen wins TGC inaugural golf tourney

A member of the Tiger Golf Club (TGC), Monday Stephen on Saturday emerged the winner of the TGC inaugural tournament played at 2Div of the Nigerian Army, Adekunle Fajuyi, Cantonment, Odogbo, Ibadan.

Stephen popularly known as ‘Arab Money’ who is playing five handicaps claimed the overall winner with 72 Net and 77 Gross.

An elated Stephen said thank God for the victory saying he’s working hard towards the upcoming golf tournament especially the Tiger Open scheduled for later in the year.

“I must thank God for this victory because I’ve stepped up my game and I’m really working hard to increase the tempo of my games ahead of the upcoming championship, especially Tiger Open which is the last Open in the golfing calendar.”

Also, Captain of the Tiger Golf Club (TGC), Tunde Salami promised to deliver as the newly elected Captain of the Club.

Speaking at the 2023/23 executive inaugural kitty, Salami said he was overwhelmed with the turnout of the kitty saying it shows the love for the game of golf while lauded the members of the Club for their continuous support.

He admonished non golfers to embrace the game of Golf saying “You can be rest assured that Tiger Golf Club is home away from home.

He promised that this new committee would meet up with the expectations.

He said “Together, we have all made history today by ensuring that this Executive Inaugural Kitty has attracted quite a large number of participants. I am aware that the planning committee had to peg the number of participants to 150.

“I must express my heartfelt gratitude to all our sponsors, members of the Club Board of Trustees, my Executive Committee and the planning Committee under the chairmanship of Zubair Oluwagbenga for planning and executing this task.

“We have started working from where our processor stops by upgrading the club’s reception area and the fairways.”

Also, the Lady Captain, Patience Ekwere thanked the sponsors for their support just as he said the task before a lady captain is not a one man’s job.
