Jose Mourinho has moved to shut down speculation linking him with a return to Real Madrid, insisting he has not held any contact with the club and remains focused on his current role at Benfica.
The Portuguese coach addressed the issue during a press conference, as reports continued to circulate over potential changes at Real Madrid following a difficult campaign.
Madrid’s season ended without a trophy, with their 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in El Clásico confirming the loss of the La Liga title race.

That result left Barcelona clear at the top, while Madrid’s campaign came under further scrutiny.
The pressure around the club increased amid reports of internal issues, including claims of a training-ground altercation involving midfielders Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde, which reportedly led to disciplinary action.
Despite the rumours, Mourinho made his position clear when asked about a possible return.
“There are still people talking about Real Madrid, but I’m avoiding it. I’ve had absolutely no contact with them, not with the president or anyone else at the club,” he said.
He added that he will not engage in discussions about future roles while the current season remains active.
“I won’t speak to anyone until after our final league game against Estoril. After that, there may be time to consider things, but all the stories about meetings and demands are only speculation,” he explained.
Mourinho remains under contract until 2027, with reports of a €3 million release clause continuing to circulate in Portuguese and Spanish media, but he has maintained that his focus is on completing the season with Benfica.
