National Youth Games: FCT contigent in high spirits, departs Thursday

The FCT contingent to the 2016 National Youth Games holding in Ilorin, Kwara State, will depart Abuja on Thursday for the games.
According to the FCT acting Director of Sports, Mrs. Dilichukwu Onyedinma, the team, comprising 80 athletes and 30 officials, will participate in ten events.
Onyedinma, who spoke in Abuja on Wednesday, was full of appreciation to the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, for facilitating the participation. “I want to confirm to you today that the FCT contingent to the National Youth Games will depart Abuja, on Thursday, 22 September. We are going to the games with 80 athletes and 30 officials drawn from athletics, table tennis, karate, cricket, tennis, chess, badminton, wrestling and taekwondo.”
“As you are already aware, there are no team events at the games, with the exception of cricket. The FCT athletes have been in camp for the past two weeks, though they have been training individually for quite a while now. We are very grateful to the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, for his love for the youths.
“He picked special interest in our participation in the games, and ensured that all the athletes that are representing FCT in the games are all insured before departing Abuja. This is one of the greatest motivations that these youths would receive, and they have promised not to let the residents of FCT down in the games.”
She said that the team would be camped at the facilities provided by the organisers at the University of Ilorin.
The second edition of the National Youth Games will be declared open by the Minister of Youths and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung on Friday, at the University of Ilorin Sports Complex.
