Nigeria ’ll qualify for world beach volleyball championship ―Coach

Ajilore Kayode, coach of Nigeria’s U-21 Beach Volleyball team, says he is confident that Nigeria will qualify for the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) World Championships in China.

The players have been in camp in Abuja in preparation for the Africa Beach Nations Cup scheduled to hold in Egypt from March 30 to April 3.

Kayode told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja that the players are ready for the African tournament, which serves as a qualifying stage for the U-21 World Championship.

“We will be going to Egypt tomorrow for the qualifier; and the players have been in camp ready to go there and pick the ticket, to be among the team that will represent Africa in the World Championship in China.”

“They don’t need so much new skills because it is the same players that represented us at the zone 3 qualifiers that qualified us for this stage.”

“So it is just to ‘brush them up’ on the ones they have known before and work on their psychology and prepare them physically also.”

“Well, I have been talking to them it is just to encourage them to be themselves and to put in use everything we have been learning while in camp.”

“As a matter of fact, I don’t have any fear in me that they will not qualify; I have the confidence that with the level of their performance since the training, I have the confidence that they are going to do Nigeria proud.”

Kayode said the Nigerian contingent for the competition comprises two male and two female players and a referee.

The players are Obayemi Ogunsina and Hilland Simeon, both male.

The others are Amaka Orazulike and Jessica Teruase, both female, as well as Samuel Timothy (referee).
