Osun Sports Festival finale set for tomorrow

All roads will lead to Osogbo, the Osun State capital, as the state Ministry of Youth and Sports will hold the finale of the ongoing Osun Sports Festival (OSF), which was unveiled in July, earlier this year.

Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola at the unveiling had said the OSF was aimed at positively channelling the energy of youths across the state.

The State Commissioner For Youth and Sports, Azeez Olayemi Lawal, who revealed that the festival paraded athletes from 31 sports which include athletes, football tennis, volleyball, boxing, weightlifting, golf, all Para-sports amongst others, also said that the sports festival was held in three phases of local, zonal and state, noting that all local government councils presented at least 100 athletes at the festival, which will be concluded tomorrow.

“This festival included youths between the age range of 15 and 29, the opportunity to showcase their sports prowess and those that are identified will be trained and nurtured to stardom,” the commissioner stated.

The finale, which will have Governor Oyetola, the public and private sector professionals and indeed, people from all work’s of life across the state in attendance, is billed to present a spectacle like never before in the history of the state.

The ceremony will include laurel presentations to deserving athletes who participated in all games, as well as awards to other related recipients.

Also to close the festival in concert will be some of Nigeria’s finest musicians namely Small Doctor, Mobahd, Oyinkanade, Fabulous Pizzy, Keanzo, SadeBlaq among other state bred acts.
