Pillars, IfeanyiUbah clash in NPFL season’s opener

The 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) kicks off today at the Sani Abacha Stadium, as Kano Pillars take on reigning Federation Cup champions, FC IfeanyiUbah.

The remaining match day one NPFL fixtures will be decided tomorrow in various centres across the federation.

One of the fixtures is an Oriental derby between NPFL title holders, Enugu Rangers and Abia Warriors.

Pillars, under returnee coach, Kadiri Ikhana have practically overhauled the team for the new season, while The Anambra Warriors who on Wednesday in Abuja defeated Rangers 4-3 via penalties to clinch the Charity Super Cup have equally recruited more tested legs for both their domestic and continental engagements.

The media officer of Pillars, Idris Malikawa believes the new squad would make up for the massive disappointment recorded last season, adding “our players and coaches have identified what is needed to be done to make this season better and I strongly believe that our targets this time will be achieved.”
