Jorge Mendes is said to be working on moves for Andre Gomes and Angel Di Maria.
Mendes was summoned to Catalonia to oversee a move away from the club for unwanted midfielder Andre Gomes, who has largely flattered to deceive since his move from Valencia, as well as to seal the signing of Angel Di Maria from PSG.
It promises to be an interesting last few days of the transfer window for Barca, with several departures still to finalise and hopes that the club can still bring in at least one more elite-level player still lingering.
According to ‘RAC1′, one of the Catalan side’s first priorities is to push through Andre Gomes’ move away from the club. It is thought that the player has no long-term future at the Camp Nou and Ernesto Valverde’s side are keen to sell now in order to recoup as much as possible of the initial €35m they paid Valencia for him last year.
Italian champions Juventus are thought to hold an interest in the player, but they are not alone, hence Mendes’ trip to Barcelona. The Catalan radio station confirmed the agent’s visit to the club, with discussions believed to have started on Monday.
During said discussions, the name of Angel Di Maria is believed to have cropped up. The PSG midfielder is well-known for his time spent with Real Madrid earlier in his career but there are few Barca fans that would reject the chance to sign the Argentine based on that alone.
Regardless, it promises to be a complicated deal. Any move for Gomes is also likely to go down to the wire, thought the Portuguese is thought to be open to the idea of moving to a club that can offer him more game time.
