Nigeria’s Head coach, Gernot Rohr, believes Nigeria’s World Cup plans on the positive following January moves by Super Eagles players in Europe.
Rohr had last year read the Riot Act to his players insisting that only active players would be taken on board flight to Russia for the World cup finals next summer.
”I am happy my players are getting game times with their clubs in Europe” Rohr informed TV 5
“Some of them were struggling with their teams and when we saw what was happening and which was not good enough, we held talks and decided that it was better for action to be taken and move elsewhere”
Ahmed Musa returned to Spartak Moscow on loan having found game time rare at Leicester City while the likes of Isaac Success, Brown Ideye and Etebo Oghenekaro are in Spanish LaLiga for top actions ahead of the World Cup.
Rohr also disclosed he was monitoring Nigeria’s Group D World Cup opponents-Argentina, Croatia and Iceland.
“We are interested in what they are doing but what is most important is how we handle ourselves. If we get it right, then we are encouraged to go and fight for honours in Russia”.
