Russia 2018: Saudi, Egypt are the worst ―Fabregas

Chelsea star, Cesc Fàbregas has criticised Egypt and Saudi Arabia’s performances at the 2018 World Cup.

The Spanish midfielder has not been impressed by the two Group A teams’ performances thus far labeling Egypt and Saudi Arabia as “the two worst teams in the World Cup by a distance.”

Both Arab nations suffered losses in their first two games and have officially been knocked out from the competition. Egypt suffered a heartbreaking 89th minute loss to Uruguay on June 15 before losing to Russia 3-1 on June 19. Mohamed Salah scored Egypt’s lone goal from the spot.

Saudi Arabia were picked apart by Russia and lost 5-0 in the opening match of the World Cup. Like Egypt, the Green Falcons lost 1-0 to Uruguay on June 20. The result officially knocked out both Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

“As you know, this can happen at the highest levels when there is a big difference in the levels,” Fàbregas expanded.

Egypt will face Saudi Arabia on Monday June 25 in their final group stage match.
