Udinese, an Italian football club, has thrown support behind its striker Keinan Davis, who claimed he was subjected to racist abuse during their 2-0 win at Cagliari.

The 28-year-old Englishman accused the Sardinian club’s Italian defender, Alberto Dossena, of calling him a monkey via his official Instagram page, which the latter denied.

The club expressed its support for their striker via a statement released on its website. “Udinese Calcio expresses its deepest solidarity and full support for Keinan Davis, who was subjected to shameful racist insults by an opposing player during this afternoon’s match.”

The club reiterated its condemnation of such deplorable acts, which seriously damage the image and values of the sport we love.

It further said that Udinese Calcio will defend Keinan in all appropriate venues and hopes for a swift resolution to the incident by the sporting justice bodies in which it has full confidence.
